Michael G. Windell 63, of Aurora, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 28th at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, MN. Michael was born on December 21, 1955 in Iron Mountain, son of Glenn and Marie (Broullire) Windell.

He has been a lifelong resident of this area and was a 1974 graduate of Florence High School. He married Julie Hayes on September 18, 1976 in Kingsford, MI. Together they raised four children.

He is survived by his wife, Julie; children, Ryan (DeAnn) Windell of Aurora, Dustin (Amber Hoogland) Windell of Florence, Eric (Desiree) Windell of Florence and Jacalyn (Orrin Davis) Windell of Kingsford; his mother, Marie Windell of Aurora; brother, Marty (Elizabeth Johnston) Windell of New Castle, WY; sisters, Laurie (Greg) Kaldor of Costa Rica, Cindy (Jeff) Wenzel of Aurora, Elise (Terry) Neuens of Aurora, Cheryl (Doug) Neuens of Aurora and Dawn Windell of Kingsford; grandchildren, Kyle and Abby Windell, Cira Windell, Carly and Colin Schneider, Ellie, Braden and Madden Kolberg; and by many nieces and nephews. Michael was a very talented mechanic and was always willing to drop what he was doing to help others. He especially loved working in his shop with friends and family restoring vintage cars.

Michael enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially trout fishing and bow hunting. Mike was a past member of the Aurora/Homestead Rescue Squad and spent many years involved in racing at the Norway Speedway. Mike loved spending time with his family and friends and will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

Visitation will be on Friday, March 8th from 9:00am until 11:30am at the Kingsford Funeral Home in Kingsford, MI. Funeral services will follow at 12:00 pm Friday at Sacred Heart Church in Aurora. Fr.
