William Kraemer Obituary Mr. William (Bill) Lawrence Kraemer began his greatest adventure March 5, 2019. He died peacefully at Evergreen Assisted Living in Kingsford due to prostate cancer and kidney failure. He will join his parents, George J. Kraemer and Marion B. Shadoski Kraemer, brother, Jim (Doris) Kraemer and sister, Kathy Kraemer.
Bill was born April 21, 1929 in Milwaukee, WI and moved to Cameron, WI during the Depression where his family owned and managed Rest Cove Resort. He graduated from Cameron High School in 1947. He received his bachelor of education degree from Eau Claire State College (UW Eau Claire), earning his masters in 1955 from UW Madison.
He began his teaching career in Glen Flora Public Schools in 1953, then taught at Goodman Public Schools from 1955-1960. Known and respected as ‘Mr. Kraemer’, he retired in 1998 from Niagara Public Schools. For more than 28 years, he enjoyed teaching math and geometry to his many students; some may even remember his ‘Spock’ touch.
Mr. Kraemer was also the yearbook advisor and guidance counselor for many years. A proud veteran, Bill served in the Army as a prison guard from February 1952 to July 1953 during the Korean War. He married Charmaine Schultz (Schultzie) June 1, 1956.
As a teacher, he was able to enjoy the summer months with his family, Billy, Carol, Sandy and Linda, pulling the pop-up camper and traveling the US. His favorite destinations were the Southwest, Florida, cruising, and the mountains ‘out west’, particularly Mt. Rainer in Washington.
He later traveled to nearly all 50 states, Europe, and Canada. But no place was more important and comforting to him than the 12 acres he called home in Niagara where he’s lived since 1964. There he would take daily walks on the property to ‘his’ Menominee River (later riding his ATV), ride his motorcycle in the summer, snowmobile in the winter, shoot his rifles and pistols, carve wood, and hunt deer at ‘The Place’ (Charmaine’s childhood home).
With his ever-present camera, he took thousands of photos of his travel, family, and life. He was an avid reader and was always up to date on current events. Bill is survived by his wife of 62 years, Charmaine, son Bill (Deb), Kraemer Kaukauna, WI; Carol Johnson, Cumming, GA; Sandy (Mike) Keeker Gladstone, MI; and Linda (Joe) Orcelletto, Bend OR.
Grandchildren; Chris (Becky) Kraemer, Erik Kraemer, Ashley (Mitch) Herber, Lindsey Johnson, Kyra Keeker, and Mike Keeker. Bill is also survived by his youngest brother, George (Marj) Kraemer in Richland, WA, and various nieces and nephews. The Kraemer family has entrusted Erickson-Rochon & Nash funeral home in Iron Mountain with the arrangements.
