Ivan’s Obituary Ivan F. Fender, 89, of Paxton passed away 5:20 p.m. Monday, February 11, 2019 at Accolade Healthcare on Pells, Paxton. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, February 15, 2019 at Baier Family Funeral Services, 406 E Pells, Paxton with Dan Hill officiating. Burial will follow in Glen Cemetery, Paxton with military honors by Paxton American Legion Prairie Post 150.

Visitation will be Friday prior to the service from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Ivan was born April 16, 1929 in Independence, Virginia the son of Grover and Mallie Farmer Fender. He married Elizabeth Boyer May 4, 1962 in Bridle Creek, Virginia.

She preceded him in death March 3, 2012. He is survived by two daughters, Frances Castellana of Raleigh, NC, Kathy (Danny) Moore of Fuquay Varina, NC; one daughter-in-law, Billie Kennedy of Rantoul; seven grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; and one sister, Irene Halsey of Independence, VA. He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Elizabeth; son, Norman Kennedy; and great granddaughter, Jordan Quesenberry.

Ivan served in the United States Coast Guard during the Korean War and later served in the United States Air Force for twenty years, retiring in June 1974. During his time in the Air Force he was stationed many places which included Alaska and Chanute Air Force Base, Rantoul and had fought in the Vietnam War. After his retirement from the Air Force he owned and operated Siebert’s TV in Paxton for many years and later worked at Doug’s Compounding Pharmacy.

He was a member of Gibson City Baptist Church and the Corn Belt Shrine Club. Ivan was a very friendly, personable person who enjoyed watching baseball, especially his Chicago Cubs. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy memorials may be made to Gibson City Baptist Church.
