James Alva Boyer, 81, of Anderson, passed away on February 2, 2019 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born on January 12, 1938 in Anderson, where he resided all of his life. James graduated magna cum laude, from Purdue University with both a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree.

He retired as an accomplished Electrical Engineer for Delco Remy Division of General Motors and Delphi Automotive, where he created 27 automotive patents, won the “Boss” Kettering Award, and was inducted into the General Motors Hall of Fame. He was an active member of Meadowbrook Baptist Church, where he served in many stewardship roles throughout the years, Fellowship Masonic Lodge #681 F. A.&M. , and while at Purdue he was a member of the Glee Club.

James will always be remembered as a selfless, gracious, gentle, humble, and kind man. He was capable of fixing anything. He was very particular about his yard and cars.

James is survived by his loving wife, Pamela Boyer; son, Brian D. Boyer; daughter, Amy L. (Craig) Downing; step-children, David D. (Tricia) Carpenter, Jennifer L. Morris, Audra (Brian) Brown; brother, Eldon Boyer; grandchildren, Matthew Crossett, Alexandra Anderson, Arianna Carpenter, Channing Carpenter, Hunter Anderson, Brenna (Braiden) Hampton, Bailey Carpenter, Taylor Morris, Bryttni Boxell, Keegan Brown, Tristan Morris, Lane Howe, Lexi Downing, Luke Downing; great-grandchildren, Oakley, Liam, Camdyn, Nova, Zaidyn; a niece, and several cousins. He was preceded in death by his mother, Helen Marie Boyer; and his father, James Basil Boyer. Visitation will be held Wednesday, February 6, 2019, 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm at Loose Funeral Homes & Crematory, 200 West 53rd Street Anderson.

Services will be 11:30 am, Thursday, February 7, 2019, at the funeral home with Pastor Dennis Zirkle officiating. Burial will take place in Anderson Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to Meadowbrook Baptist Church.
