James’ Obituary Chaplain James Charles Seaman, Sr., age 75, of Proctorville, passed away Tuesday, January 15, 2019, at Highland House in Fayetteville. He was born on November 13, 1943, in Abbington, PA to the late Edward F. Seaman and the late Alma Wilson Seaman. He retired after 30 years of service in the US Air Force, having achieved the rank of Lt.

Col. After retirement, he continued to serve locally as pastor of various congregations throughout the years, which included Hebron Baptist Church (Coward, SC; 1968-1970), Broad Ridge Baptist Church (Lumberton, NC; 1970-1977), Long Branch Baptist Church (Lumberton, NC), and Oakdale Baptist Church (Fairmont, NC). He was the former mayor of Proctorville, NC as well.

He enjoyed learning, ultimately earning a master’s degree. The schools he attended were as follows: Bryan Station High School (Lexington, KY), Francis Marion University (Florence, SC), Southeastern Seminary (Wake Forest, NC), Oxford University (England), Johnson Institute for Chemical Dependency (Wisconsin), and Air Command & Staff College (Alabama). He also received training in Family Counseling in Critical Incident Stress.

He is survived by his wife Mary Seaman of the home; two sons: Michael C. Seaman and James C. Seaman, Jr.; ten grandchildren: Aaron Seaman, Micah Seaman Taylor (Nick), Rachel Seaman, Casey Seaman Kinlaw (Will), Alisha Seaman (Aaron Mishue), Hunter Seaman, David Seaman, Mike Seaman, Nicole Knyfd, and Nate Knyfd; four great-grandchildren: Lauren, Zackery, Ava, and Hayden; and one brother, Edward F. Seaman. The family will receive friends prior to the service on Sunday, January 20, 2019, from 2:00-3:00 PM at Broad Ridge Baptist Church in Lumberton. Following the visitation, a funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM with Rev.

Lt. Col. (Ret.

) David Turner and Rev. Johnny Ivey officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
