Obituary for James Columbus Bebber James Columbus “Jake” Bebber, 94, of Martinsville, Virginia, passed away Monday, April 30, 2018 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. He was born November 10, 1923, in South Boston, Virginia, to the late Howard and Jane Osbourne Bebber. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Nannie Loftis Bebber; a son, James Columbus Bebber, Jr.; his sister, Virginia B. Baynes; and his brother, Howard Bebber, Jr

Mr. Bebber proudly served his country as a Marine during World War II, when he was injured in the third wave in Iwo Jima. He was an avid striper fisherman and was heavily involved with his church, Cherry Hill United Methodist Church. He is survived by his daughter, Jane Walrod (Dr. John Walrod); two sons, Dennis Bebber (Clare) and Don Bebber (Dianne); step-brother, Carl Vance Bebber; nine grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be Saturday, May 5, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. at Cherry Hill United Methodist Church with Pastor Pat Nielsen officiating. Burial will follow at the church. Wright Funeral Service & Crematory is serving the family.
