Obituary for James Everett “FlyBoy” Goswick James Everett Goswick, 83, of Fort Gibson, was born in Tulsa, OK to Thomas and Margaret (Fondren) Goswick and entered Heaven’s Gates on Saturday, May 26, 2018 in Muskogee with his loving family by his side. James grew up in Tulsa where he met and married his lifelong companion Eula Self on June 7, 1958 after enlisting in the United States Air Force. Together they moved around the United States as he traveled the world as a flight engineer on the C-124 Globemaster to places like Iceland, Greenland, Korea, Dominic Republic, Belgian Congo, serving in missions in the Korean Era and Vietnam wars.

They had two daughters Virginia and Valerie. They would have celebrated their 60th anniversary in June. After receiving his full retirement from the Air Force in 1968 ranking as a Technical Staff Sergeant he went on to work in the printing industry and retired while working for Penwell Publishing in Tulsa.

He became semi-retired when he went to work for his good friend Morris Hodges at Jones Riverside Airport restoring airplanes. In fact, throughout his life James, nicknamed “Flyboy”, built, flew and restored many airplanes, RCA’s and ultralight aircrafts. He was the president of the Green Country Ultralight Flyers Association and served as the secretary treasurer for the Blind Veterans.

James and Eula enjoyed square dancing for years. He was always active, enjoyed big fishing trips, traveling, camping, carpentry and even built houses, a skill he learned from his older brothers. He loved passing on knowledge to whoever was around him.

He lived and played hard but most of all he loved harder making a great impact on all of his families lives. James was Baptized at the Natura Baptist Church and was a founding member of the Twin Hills Baptist Church and most recently became a member of the South Ridge Baptist Church when he and Eula moved to Ft. Gibson.

He often told his family he was prepared to meet his maker. James is preceded in death by his son, Douglas Goswick; his parents; brothers, George, Roy, Bill, Jerry and Jesse; sisters, Buela (Vicky), Mary, Myrtle and Margaret. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Eula Goswick of the home; daughters, Virginia Flores and Valerie Rice and son in law Eddy all of Beggs, OK; grandson and granddaughter in law, Zachary and Jillian Rice of Edmond, OK; grandsons, James Broc Rice of Tahlequah, OK and Dillon Flores of Beggs, OK; granddaughter and son in law, Becky Flores and Cody Longan of Beggs, OK; great granddaughters, Piper and Journiee Longan of Beggs, OK; great grandson, Spencer Flores of Beggs, OK and his brother, Donald Goswick of Beggs, OK.

A visitation will be held Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at Clifford D Garrett Family Funeral Home in Fort Gibson with family receiving friends 5PM-7PM. Funeral services for James’ are 10:30AM Thursday, May 31,2018 in the Clifford D Garrett Family Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Chris Dover officiating. Committal prayers and interment will follow in the Fort Gibson National Cemetery at noon with Donald Goswick, Eddy Rice, Zachary Rice, James Rice, Austin Young, Cody Longan, serving as casket bearers.

Full military honors will be observed. The family of James Everett Goswick has entrusted his services and burial to Clifford D Garrett Family Funeral Home, Fort Gibson. 918-478-2555.
