James Holt May 27, 1943 – March 29, 2019 Share this obituary Send Flowers Sign Guestbook| Send Sympathy Card Mr. James “Jim” Holt, 75, passed away on March 29, 2019 at Alamance Regional Medical Center. He was born on May 27, 1944 to the late Theodore Page and Emmaline Harden Holt. He was a graduate of Graham High School in 1960.

In August of 1961 he enlisted in the US Army. During his four years in the Army, he played basketball and baseball. In 1965 he was drafted to the Kansas City Athletics in Minor League Baseball.

During his time in Major League Baseball he played for several teams that included the Minnesota Twins and Oakland A’s. His MLB career spanned from 1968 to 1976. While with the Oakland A’s, in 1974 they won the World Series.

In the years after returning home from baseball he worked locally which included Fireequip and the Elon Fire Department. James enjoyed spending time with family and friends, fishing, and being with his classmates and laughing. His laugh was infectious and will be missed by all who ever heard it.

He is preceded in death by his parents, as well as his daughter: Sharon Kaye Dickens, a brother: Lacy Theodore Holt, and sisters: Margaret Flintall, Mary Caldwell and Laura Holt. He leaves to cherish his memory: niece: Donna Holt of Burlington, nephew: Maurice Morton (Sharon) of Kernersville, sister: Elizabeth Morrow of Greensboro and many nieces, nephews and cousins and friends.
