James “Jimmy” Earl Butler, 78, husband of Jeannette Meriwether Butler, resident of Hutson Street, died Sunday, May 6, 2018 at NHC in Laurens. Born May 28, 1939 in Saluda to the late William and Rosa Lee Rambo Butler, Jimmy graduated from Saluda High School where he was very active in sports, and was voted Friendliest and Best Personality. He joined the United States Navy, where he met his loving wife of 57 years.

He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church and Greenwood Lodge #91, A.F.M. Surviving other than his wife of the home are his daughters, Maria Butler Creswell and husband Hal of Bradley, Theresa Butler Carter and husband Hugh of Ware Shoals, Diane Butler McCauley and husband Mark of Greenwood and Dawn Butler of the home; his 6 grandchildren; his 11 great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6 to 8 PM at Blyth Funeral Home. No services are planned.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials in Jimmy’s memory be made to Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church Building Fund, 915 Mathis Rd. Greenwood, SC 29649.
