James “Jim” Willard Lake, Jr., 70, husband of Katheryn Cheek, resident of Baldwin Rd. , died Wednesday, June 27, 2018 at Hospice House. Born in Greenwood July 29, 1947 to the late James Willard and Sara Ellen Weeks Lake, Sr., Jim attended Greenwood High School.

He joined the Army and served his country during the Vietnam War. Jim worked many years as a machine operator and retired from Cullum Electrical. He was a proud member of the Greenwood County Veterans.

Surviving other than his… Read More » wife of the home, are his daughter, Angie Cheek of Ninety Six; his granddaughter, Kasey Dorn of Ninety Six; his grandson, Randy Dorn and wife Crystal of Greenwood; his sister, Vickie Lake Byrd of Greenwood; his brother, Gary Paul Lake, Sr., and wife Rosemary of Ware Shoals; his neices, Tonya Lake Coleman of Gilbert and Tammy Byrd of Ninety Six; his nephews, Gary Paul Lake, Jr., of Waterloo and James Paul Lake of Ware Shoals. He was predeceased by his brother – in – law, Roger Wayne Byrd. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, at 11:00 AM from the Blyth Funeral Home Chapel with Rev.

Jimmy Tucker officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Memorial Gardens with Military Honors. Pallbearers will be Dustin Baum, Gary Lake Sr., Gary Lake Jr., Randy Dorn, Buddy Reeves, and James Coursey.

The family is at their respective homes and will receive friends Friday evening from 6 to 8 PM at the funeral home. Memorials in Jim’s memory made be made to the Greenwood County Veterans Center, 106 Main Street N Greenwood, SC 29646.
