Rufus Troy “RT” West, Jr., 86, resident of Patrick Road, widower of Catherine Jennings “Cat” West, died Monday, June 25, 2018 at his home. Born in McCormick, August 13, 1931, he was a son of the late Rufus Troy and Louise McDonald West. He was a graduate of McCormick High School.

Mr. West retired from Kmart after over 25 years of service and after retirement worked for Greenwood School District 50. He was a US Navy Veteran. Mr. West was a member of Rice Memorial Baptist Church and the… Read More » Open Door Sunday School Class.

Surviving are a daughter, Vesta West Quarles of Bolivar, MO and a son, Jennings Troy “Tronie” West and wife GeJuan H. West of Greenwood; six grandchildren, Mindy Quarles, Palmer West (Kelley), Clay Quarles (Krystal), Bree West Cockrell (Cody), Ari West and Teale West; eight great-grandchildren; a sister, Doris Daniels of McCormick. Graveside services will be conducted 11AM Wednesday in Greenwood Memorial Gardens with Rev. Jimmy Tucker officiating.

The family is at the home on Patrick Road and will receive friends immediately following the graveside service. The body is at Blyth Funeral Home and will be placed on the grave at 10:30 Wednesday morning. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association SC Chapter, 301 University Ridge, Suit 5850, Greenville, SC 29601.
