Funeral services for James Loomer, 83, of Lufkin, will be held Monday, May 27, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. at Shafer Funeral Home in Lufkin with Bro. Jimmy Hedges officiating. Interment will follow at Nat Cemetery in Nacogdoches County.

Mr. Loomer was born April 26, 1936 in Beaumont, Texas, the son of the late William Loomer and Lear (Price) Loomer, and died Thursday, May 23, 2019 in Lufkin. Mr. Loomer was of Catholic Faith and founded Carpets by Curiosity where he worked for 40 years. He enjoyed traveling and working in his yard.

Mr. Loomer loved Angelina College Basketball and Lufkin High School Football. He will be well remembered for his big personality in his radio and TV commercials. Wall to Wall Loomer was a staple of Lufkin for four decades.

One of his proudest accomplishments was helping to start the Angelina Roadrunners Club. He many times sat in front of the fireplace at the store enjoying peanuts and peppermints. Mr. Loomer is survived by his daughter, Pam Brown of Lufkin; daughter and son-in-law, Gail and Mark Hillman of McKinney, TX; grandson, Aaron Brown of Lufkin; grandson, Aaric Brown of Lufkin; grandson, Sean Hillman of Boston, MA; grandson, Christopher Hillman of Denton; great-granddaughter, Maddison Brown of Lufkin; great-grandson, Aaric Matthew Brown of Lufkin; and sister and brother-in-law, Mary Ann and Jimmy Breaux of Round Rock, TX.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and first wife, Joy Reeves Loomer. Pallbearers will be John Boyle, Don Ridgeway, Kyle Breaux, Artie Dixon, Jim Heck and Sherman Snelson. Special memorials may be made to Southside Baptist Church: Children or Youth Ministries, 1615 Tulane Dr, Lufkin, TX 75901.

Visitation will be from10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Monday, May 27, 2019 at Shafer Funeral Home in Lufkin, prior to the graveside service. Shafer Funeral Home, Lufkin directors.
