James Phares (JP) Smith October 20, 1934 – October 5, 2018 James Phares (JP) Smith, 83, passed away October 5, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. JP was born October 20, 1934 in York, PA to Phares E. and Dorthey M. Smith. On September 29, 1956, JP married his true love, Janet Vickers in Clearfield, UT.

They were married for 59 years before Janet passed in 2016. JP served in the US Navy and Air Force before retiring from Hill AFB. JP was a member of the Good Sam Club.

He enjoyed hunting, camping, baseball, traveling with Janet and spending time with his grandchildren. He especially enjoyed being on Bohman’s mountain with his family and friends. JP was a loyal friend and was known for his great sense of humor and his practical jokes.

JP is survived by his four children, Jeff Smith; Janice Condo (Lyndal Fitzgerald); Vickie Kent (Kelly); Michelle Smith, (Tonya Crabb); eight grandchildren, Amy, Michael, Melanie, Matt, Jessica, Jason, Bryan and Max, and eight great grandchildren. JP is also survived by three sisters; Janet Nichols, Joyce Smith and Barbara Adams and many close friends. The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff of Lotus Park for the kindness and care they extended to JP during his stay.

Graveside services will be held on October 12, 2018 at 2:00 pm, Hooper Cemetery, 5290 S. 6300 West. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Best Friends Animal Society, Kanab, UT.
