Donn May Roc Lewis , June 20, 1928 — October 03, 2018

Donna Rock Lewis 1928-2018 Donna passed away peacefully, Wednesday, October 3, 2018 after a short illness. She was born Donna May Rock June 20, 1928 in Castle Rock, UT to Thomas Russell Rock and Vergie Mae Fernelius. Because she was born at home premature and struggling to breathe, her grandmother gave her whiskey and warmed her in the coal stove.

She joked about being born half-baked and soused. Donna grew up during the Great Depression and settled in Peterson for high school. At Weber State College, John Walker Lewis was explaining to a friend that he didn’t need to be set up to date her cousin.

At that moment he saw Donna for the first time walking toward him and exclaimed, “That’s the girl I’m going to marry”. The friend responded, “but John-that’s my cousin! ” John soon became the love of Donna’s life.

After marriage in the Salt Lake Temple, attending BYU, and working in Ogden, John’s work took the family to Illinois for years until 1978 when they7 moved to Brigham City to work and retire. Donna was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, daughter-in-law, LDS Primary president, and fun friend to all who knew her. She loved her family and enjoyed having her house packed with family and grandkids for her to spoil whenever possible.

She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-seven years, John Walker Lewis; son Kent Alan; (Margaret), parents, Russell and Vergie, brothers Gerald Peter and Kenneth Heber, and grandson Ian Russell Ni-Lewis. She is survived by siblings: Russell; Dale;; Gordon; Kay; sister RaNae Wilde (Jon); Children: John Russell (Constance); Martin Kay (Diane); Tamera Nesmith (Tim); DaNae Rock (Jesse Ronald); Don Marshal (Miyuki); eighteen grandchildren and twenty-eight great grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, October 9, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the Morgan West Stake Center, 2755 W. Old Hwy Rd, Morgan, UT.

Viewings will be held on Monday October 8, 2018 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Myers Mortuary 205 South 100 East Brigham City, UT and on Tuesday from 9:30 – 10:45 a.m. at the Church. Interment will be in the Brigham City Cemetery.
