Hnorva Draper , January 04, 1929 — November 24, 2018

Harold Norval Draper, 89, of West Point, UT passed away on November 24, 2018. He was born on January 4, 1929, in Genola, UT to Harold Arthur Draper and Idell Kump. He spent his summers as a boy working on his Grandpa Draper’s farm.

He attended school in Lark and Provo. In 1946, he married Pearl Tuttle. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple.

Norval served honorably in the United States Army during the Korean War. Most of his professional life was spent as a sheet metal mechanic for Boeing, in Seattle, WA and for Hill Air Force Base, in Clearfield, UT. Norval loved to go hunting, fishing, and camping with his family.

He enjoyed working with youth and coached his son’s baseball team. He was also a leader for the West Point Junior Posse, of which two of his daughters were members. Trail riding, barrel racing and 4-H competitions were just a few of the activities this included.

Training horses was another activity Norval loved. He participated in the Golden Spike Chariot Racing Association for many years and had a championship chariot racing team. He also trained numerous race horses and had fun watching them succeed.

Norval and Pearl spent their retirement years in sunny St. George selling real estate, golfing, traveling and enjoying their friends and family. They loved to have their children and grandchildren come and visit. Norval taught them how to hunt and fish.

He also helped them develop a great love of the outdoors. Norval was preceded in death by his wife, Pearl; his son, Steven Harold; one grandson, Troy Edwards; and sisters, Vonda Sargent, Joyce Cromer and Linda (Alan) Bell. Surviving children are Vicky (Ken) Strong, Kathy (Blaine) Bowers, Kerry (Rod) Snyder (daughter of Ida Smith Rist), Debbi (Steven) Cheney and Michelle (Brian) LeBaron; 23 grandchildren, 52 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.

Services will be held Saturday, December 1, at Myers Mortuary in Layton, UT. A viewing will be held at 10:00 a.m., with the funeral following at 11:00 a.m. There will be full military honors at the graveside. Interment will be at West Point City Cemetery.
