Lola Beth Castleton Lola Beth Castleton passed away, surrounded by loved ones, on November 24, 2018. She was born March 25, 1937 in Logan, Utah to Elizabeth Datwyler and Norman Nelson. She graduated from South Cache High School in Hyrum UT in 1955 and she received her Bachelor’s degree from Utah State University in Elementary Education and Child Development in 1963.

Lola married Don Castleton in 1962 in the Logan Temple. As an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints she served callings in the Primary, Young Women, Sunday School and Relief Society. She served a mission in the New England States from March 1960 to Sept.

1961. She served with her husband when he was a Mission President in the South Carolina Calumbia mission from July 1990 to July 1993. They also served as faculty members of the Joseph Smith Academy in Nauvoo, IL from 2003 to 2004.

They then served in the Ogden, UT inner city mission from 2004 to 2005. She also loved working in the Ogden LDS Temple as an ordinance worker. Lola worked as a legal secretary and stenographer after graduating from high school.

In the community she served as an officer on several PTA committees. After her children were raised, she was employed as a secretary in Human Re Dept. of Weber State University.

She participated in and coached in various athletic activities. She especially loved playing softball and watching football. Lola was a cheerleader in high school as well as a cheer/song leader at Utah State University.

She loved music and had a beautiful soprano voice. She sang solos and was a member of several vocal musical ensembles, which performed at many church and civic/community functions. Lola was a talented seamstress and sewed many of her children clothes as well as for many of her neighbors.

She also taught adult education sewing classes. Lola is survived by her husband of 56 years, Don; children Christine Spencer (Mark), Sandy Brinley (David), Sharon Castleton, Colleen Zemach (Art), Michele Foutz (Kevin), Bryce Castleton (Angie); 20 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Also survived by siblings Ardyth McBride (Darrell), Norma Jensen (Elden), Grant Nelson (Kathleen) and Arva Rae Jost (Steve).

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Delbert and Don; sisters Yvone, Maurine and her son Kelly Don Castleton. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, November 29, 2018 at the No. Ogden 15th Ward, 770 E. 2100 No.

where viewings will be held on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday from 9:30 to 10:30 am. The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Chad Jensen and Envision Hospice. Arrangements entrusted to Myers Ogden Mortuary.
