James R Denny , August 25, 1938 — September 17, 2018

James R. Denny age 80, resident of San Francisco, California, passed away on Monday September 17, 2018. He was a former New Castle resident. He was born August 25, 1938 in New Castle, Indiana a son of the late Adam Theodore and Mary England Denny.

He was a graduate of New Castle High School and also Butler University where he played drums in the Butler University marching band and concert band. He also performed in percussion ensemble. Jim later moved to Dallas, Texas where he resided for 16 years, and was co-manager of Murray’s Mens Shop, a specialty clothing store. Also in Dallas he worked as a supervisor of Mail and Supply for American States Insurance Company. In 1982 Jim moved to San Francisco, California where he worked for Hanover Insurance Company as Supervisor of the Mail and Supply Department and also for Firemans Fund Insurance Co. in the same capacity.

He retired in 1993 and had resided in San Francisco until his death. Jim enjoyed the outdoors, walking, music and sharing time with his family and friends. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in New Castle and attended Methodist Church in Dallas and San Francisco.

Left to cherish his loving memory include cousins Mary Lou and lee Wessel of Columbus, Indiana and Tom and Mary Groce of Seymour, Indiana. Also many friends. Funeral service will be 1:30pm Monday, October 1, 2018 at Macer-Hall Funeral Home and Cremation Service.

Visitation will be one hour prior to service. Rev. Tom McGilliard will be officiating.
