James R. Gast, II July 16, 1952 – May 25, 2019 James R. Gast, II, 66, Michigan City, Indiana, passed away Saturday, May 25, 2019 at 6:47 pm in his home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Friday, May 31, 2019 at Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, 418 Washington St., Michigan City, IN. Private burial will take place in Calvary Cemetery, Portage, IN.

Visitation will be from 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm, Thursday and from 9:00 am – 10:00 am Friday at the Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel. He was born July 16, 1952 in Valparaiso, Indiana to the late James R. and Betty (Lindstrom) Gast. On August 23, 1986 in Porter, IN he married Doris Hall who survives in Michigan City, IN.

Also surviving are two daughters, Cassandra (David) Willis of Michigan City, IN and Jordanna (Michael) Garriott of Chesterton, IN; five sons, James R. (Emily) Gast, III of Portage, IN, Thurman (Ariel) Gast of Michigan City, IN, John Gast of Indianapolis, IN, Drew Gast of Michigan City, IN and Bryan Gast of Michigan City, IN; 11 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; sister, Karla (Todd) Bullis of Michigan City, IN; and four brothers, Steven (Mary) Gast of Valparaiso, IN, Karl (Shannon) Gast of Michigan City, IN, William (Monica) Gast of Medaryville, IN and Arthur Gast of Buchanan, MI. James had worked as a truck driver and was a U.S. Army of Vietnam. He enjoyed hunting, camping and was involved with the Boy Scouts of America.
