He was born April 19, 1943 in Cincinnati, OH to Lawrence and Ella (Profitt) Saunders. He graduated from Hughes High School in 1961.

He joined the Ohio National Guard in 1965 and served for 20 years. He married Colleen (Davis) on October 13, 1967 in Lawrenceburg, IN. They lived in Cincinnati while he worked at Central Trust Bank.

They later moved to Loveland, OH where he worked for BankOhio. They moved the family to Colorado in 1981, as he continued his banking career in Craig, Grand Junction, and Fort Collins, CO. His career took him to Cheyenne and Casper, WY and finally Moline, IL where he retired from First Midwest Bank in 2004.

Jim enjoyed his earlier years participating in the Shrine and Masonic Temple, Kiwanis, Jaycees, Chamber of Commerce and deer hunting. Upon moving to Colorado he enjoyed elk hunting, fishing, playing cards with his friends and relaxing in Estes Park. He took pride in spending time with his granddaughters, whether it was telling them a joke, watching their favorite movies, cruising with them in his Mustang convertibles, treating them to one of their favorite lunch spots, listening to Jordyn talk about her favorite horse, singing their favorite songs (including the special songs he made up for their names), taking them to the local skating rinks to watch them skate, and having their “love you more wars” ending in “I love you to infinity and beyond”.

He was also very close with his nephew and niece. He enjoyed both of their visits to Colorado. Joy visiting while she was younger enjoying a Beach Boys concert, as well as spending time in Estes Park.

Adam (Pansy 1) and Jim had many special “male” bonding moments, between their jokes, funny pictures, learning to fish, put up ceiling fans (preferably with the electricity off), weekend adventures to local spots, teaching Adam to drive and trying to “hook” Adam up with every pretty girl; their summer together held a special spot in both of their hearts. Jim is survived by his wife, Colleen; daughter Susan Becker (Saunders) of Fort Collins; daughter Tammy of Windsor; nephew/son Adam Davis of Florence, KY; granddaughter Audrianna (Cole Baker) of Fort Collins; granddaughter Jordyn Becker of Fort Collins; granddaughter Kierra of Windsor; great-grandsons Jayden and Maddix of Fort Collins; niece Joy Reindl of West Harrison, OH. Also cousins Barb and Fielden Thompson of Xenia, OH; Allen Pittman of Cincinnati, OH; and Carlos Profitt, Lebanon, OH, who would call him several times a week.

Life-long friends Ed Chalus, Bettendorf, IA; Ron Manning, New Albany, OH; Paul Lorenzo, Batavia, OH and Phillip Travis, Cincinnati, OH. The family would like to thank Pathways Hospice for their assistance both physically and emotionally in the last month of life.
