Obituary for James “Sam” T. Moore James Thomas Moore, 85, of 580 Dairy Lane, Sutherlin, VA died Saturday, April 28, 2018 at his residence after a decline in health for the past ten years. Mr. Moore was born in Pittsylvania County, VA on May 8, 1932, a son of the late Willie Thomas Moore and Ethel Davis Moore. Mr. Moore owned and operated James Moore Dairy Farm in Sutherlin.

He was a member of Sandy Creek Baptist Church. On July 12, 1952 he married, Nina Brewer Moore, who survives of the residence. Survivors also include his four daughter, Brenda S. Gregory (Randy), Vickie M. Johnson (Richard), Jo Ann M. Schmidt (Bill), and Cheryl M. Laws (Ray); a son, James T. “Tommy” Moore, Jr. (Vickie); a sister, Frances M. Oakes (Bill); a foster brother, Jerry R. McCain (Barbara); eight grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren; and a dear, sister, friend and loving caretaker, Chevy Wilkerson.

In addition to his parents he was predeceased by four sister, Virginia M. Colliot, Margaret M. Slayton, Irene M. Slayton, Etheleen M. Lewis; a brother, Curtis Moore, two foster brothers, Garland and Donald McCain; a grandson, Scotty Ray Barber; a great-grandson, Kolton Brim Karnes. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at 2:00 PM at the Wrenn-Yeatts North Main Chapel conducted by the Rev. Jimmy Bibee.

Interment will follow in Highland Burial Park. The family will receive friends at the residence. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial donations be made to Laurel Grove Fire & Rescue or to Ringgold Fire & Rescue.
