Obituary for James Stanton Read lll James Stanton (Jay) Read III of Marietta, Georgia, passed away peacefully at his family home on Sunday, April 15, 2018, after a brief battle with cancer. All family and friends are welcome to attend graveside service at Saint James Episcopal Church Cemetery on Tuesday, April 17 at 4:00 p.m. Friends will be received at the family home from 5:30-7:30 p.m. on Tuesday following the graveside service. James Stanton (Jay) Read was born on May 17, 1953 in Marietta.

Jay attended Marietta High School before serving in the United States Army. After serving in the army, Jay started a career in the hardwood flooring business and was the owner and operator of Read Hardwood Flooring for over 40 years. Jay was a member of Saint James Episcopal Church and loved his country and his family.

He was preceded in death by his wife Ulrike Odenwald and parents, James Stanton Read Jr. and Nadine Cranmer Read. Jay is survived by sisters, Becky Read Sullivan, Lucy Read Ward, Emily Read Hall, brother John McIntosh Read (Jana), 18 nieces and nephews and 15 great nieces and nephews.
