James’ Obituary James A. Stidfole, 74, of New London, passed away at his home on Wednesday, January 2, 2019. He was born on October 12, 1944, in Syracuse, NY, the son of Fred and Bernie (Rasmussen) Stidfole. James married Sherburne “Sherry” (Houze) Stidfole in 1966.

She survives him. James was very involved in the New London community serving on the Board of Directors for Fiddleheads Food Coop, and the Board of Directors for Hygienic Art, Inc He volunteered for the New London Breakfasts, was a member of the New London Port Authority, Waterford RTM, and was past president of the Quaker Hill Lions.

He had a passion for music and the arts having served as past president of Prospectus Players, New Realm Theater, and Community Theater Council. He was also a grant writer for the Eugene O’Neill Memorial Theater, the voice of the ECSO Children’s Concerts, technical director/drama coach at Waterford High School, assistant drama coach at New London High School, assistant coach at Montenantics Theater and Connecticut Correctional System; technical director/lighting designer for Second Step Players and technical director for Eugene O’Neill Memorial Theater. His professional teaching career included Manchester Community College, Mitchell College, Mohegan Community College, Saybrook High School, US Navy, SOC/PREP Program, Connecticut Correctional System, York Prison, Guest Lecturer, and the United States Coast Guard Academy.

Besides his wife Sherry, he is survived by his three brothers Arthur, Robert, and Eugene Stidfole. He was predeceased by his son Dylan Stidfole. A gathering of friends will be held on Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at 7 p.m. at the Hygenic, 79 Bank Street, New London.
