GREENFIELD – James T. “Jim” Shirk, age 79, of Greenfield, passed away on Saturday, February 16, 2019 at his residence. He was born in Indianapolis on June 5, 1939 to George D. Shirk and Margaret E. (Miskell) Jones. Jim graduated from Fortville High School in 1958 and served in the Army National Guard.

He married Cheryl (Russell) on April 5, 1963 in Greenfield. He was a supervisor at AT&T for 36 years before retiring. He was the past president of Town Board of Spring Lake.

Jim was a member of Elks Lodge of Greenfield. He enjoyed bowling, boating, camping, and traveling. He liked lighthouses.

Jim is survived by his sons, Jeb (Leslie) Shirk of Greenfield and Justin (Christi Aikman) Shirk of Indianapolis; brother, Randy (Cheryl) Jones of Pendleton; and sister-in-law, Pam (Kipp Koonce) Keating of Westfield. He was preceded in death by his parents; and wife, Cheryl. Visitation will be held on Friday, February 22, 2019, from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy.

40, Greenfield, IN 46140. A funeral service will take place immediately following the visitation at 2:00 p.m. Pastor Larry Van Camp will be officiating. Burial will follow at Philadelphia Cemetery with military honors presented by the Greenfield Veterans Honor Guard.
