James W. Smith, 61, of Slatington, passed away Thursday, June 28, 2018 at the Inpatient Hospice Unit at Lehigh Valley Hospital. He was the husband of Joan P. (Lockwood) Smith, they celebrated their 24th anniversary this past May. Born in Madison, NJ, he was the son of the late Warren L. and Frances M. (Dowd) Smith.

James was employed as a maintenance mechanic for 28 years for HCSC, Inc He was an avid fisherman, and enjoyed boating In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughters: Candace Smith and fiancé Anthony Kistler of Slatington, Jessica and husband Bryan Miller of Pen Argyl; Grandchildren: Danielle and Chad Delong, Abigail and Landon Miller; Brother: Jerry Smith and wife Anjana of NC; Sisters: Marjorie and husband Robert Nelcoski of Allentown, Cathy and husband Michael Mound of Colorado Springs, CO, Janine and husband Richard Sarmir of Topton. A funeral service will be held at 11 A.M. Tuesday, July 3, 2018 at Harding Funeral Home, 25-27 N. Second St, Slatington PA.

A calling hour will be held from 10 to 11 AM at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Union Cemetery, Slatington.
