James A. Bowlds, 80, of Owensboro, died on Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at home surrounded by family. Jimmy was born on March 5, 1938 in Daviess County to the late Joseph Ernest and Clara Mae Bowlds. He retired from National Southwire Aluminum and also from the American Tobacco Co

He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church and Fraternal Order of Eagles. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph Bowlds, son-in-law, Tony Kraus, brother-in-law, Russell Roberts and his stepfather, Elmer Connor. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Lillian Roberts Bowlds, whom he married on January 24, 1959; his children, Robin Bartlett, Darrell Bowlds and Christy Kraus; grandchildren, Taylor and Summer Bowlds, Jillian Bartlett, Kayla Nall and Alex Bowlds; a brother, Herman “Snookie” Bowlds; sister, Elizabeth “Liz” Johnson (Billy); brother-in-laws, J.R. Roberts, Sherman Roberts (Delores), Gene Roberts (Anna), Donnie Roberts (Belinda); and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at Our Lady of Lourdes Church. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery. A celebration of his life and visitation with his family is from 3 to 7 p.m. on Friday with prayers at 6:30 p.m. and after 8:30 a.m. on Saturday at James H. Davis Funeral Home & Crematory.
