Obituary of James Karapantso James S. Karapantso, 69, of 120 Winch Road, Lakewood, died Monday June 18, 2018, in his home. A native of Jamestown, he was born August 10, 1948, a son of the late Stavri and Tefta Kovachi Karapantso. He was a 1966 graduate of Jamestown High School and later attended Jamestown Community College.

Prior to his retirement he was employed by Falconer Central School District in the Audio Visual Department for 27 years. He earlier worked for Jamestown Public Schools. Since 1964 Jim was a self-employed musician having toured nationally.

He performed locally with the likes of Razz, John Cross, the late Steve Swanson, the late Richie Leeper and for shows at JCC, Little Theatre, Falconer Central School Bemus Bay Pops and Chautauqua Lake Idol. For many years he played in bands at Chautauqua Institution that backed up world famous artists. He was a member of St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church and Lakewood Rod and Gun Club.

Surviving are two brothers Robert Karapontso of North Port, FL and Thomas (Marty) Karapantso of Jamestown; four nieces Mary Dwyer, Hillary Meyer, Susan Kilbourne and Anne Karapontso; seven great nieces and nephews and a special friend Nancy Thunberg of Jamestown. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a niece Heather Wright. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church.

Rev. Jarrod Russell will be celebrant. Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery.

Friends will be received from 6-8 p.m. Thursday in the Lind Funeral Home where a Trisagion Prayer Service will be offered at 8 p.m. Memorials may be made to Chautauqua Region Community Foundation or a charity of choice. You may leave words of condolence at www. lindfuneralhome.com.
