Obituary of George Wheeler George E. Wheeler, 75, of Jamestown died unexpectedly Friday June 22, 2018, in UPMC Hamot Medical Center, Erie. He was born February 21, 1943, in Jamestown, a son of the late George and Fern Vose Wheeler. He was a 1961 graduate of Cassadaga Valley Central School.

A veteran of the Vietnam War, he served from 1968-70 with the 1st Calvary Division Combat Infantry, achieving the rank of sergeant and awarded the Bronze Star. Prior to his retirement he was a self employed long haul truck driver for over 40 years. Following retirement he worked for Cassadaga Central School as a school bus driver.

He was a very active member of Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 865 where he served as a board member and member of the squad providing funeral honors to veterans. He was also a member of the American Legion in Cassadaga. Surviving is a loving daughter Pam (Jerry) Moser of Schwenksville, PA; an admiring grandson Zachary Moser of State College, PA and a dedicated companion Sandy Belovarac.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 33 years Jeanne Sundlov Wheeler, whom he married February 6, 1971 and who died June of 2008. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in the Lind Funeral Home. Burial will be in Dewittville Cemetery.
