Obituary for Kathryn F. Scofield Kathryn F. Scofield, 89, formerly of Williams Avenue, Bemus Point, N.Y., passed away on Thursday, May 31, 2018 at UPMC Chautauqua WCA Hospital, Jamestown, NY. She was born on February 7, 1929 in Buffalo, N.Y., the daughter of the late Harold and Ruby Barry Woodhead. Kathryn was raised and educated in Bemus Point and graduated from Bemus Point High School in 1947.
She had worked at many restaurants in Bemus Point and she also worked at Bailey’s Bakery in Jamestown, delivering pies to local factories. Kathryn retired from Bemus Point Elementary School where she worked as a lunch monitor. She was a former member of the Bemus Point United Methodist Church, a member of “The Club” for over 60 years and a former auxiliary member of Bemus Point Volunteer Fire Department.
Kathryn was a devoted wife, mother and grandma and her main priority was raising and caring for her family. She was politically aware and up to date with current events. She enjoyed watching the evening news.
She is survived by her son: Jim Scofield of Jamestown, N.Y.; two daughters: Janet K. (John) Dominico of Monroe, N.C. and Judith L. (Alen) Rotz of Chambersburg, PA; three grandchildren: Gregory (Bethany) Dominico of Monroe, N.C., Shelley Assencao of Indian Land, S.C. and Janelle (Billy) Birt of Stallings, NC; five great grandchildren: Noah Dominico, Emma Birt, Brendan Assencao, Carmine Dominico, Ryder Dominico all of North Carolina; three step grandchildren: Savannah Gulden of North Carolina, Caylie Birt and Cassidy Birt both of Jamestown; one step great- great grandchild: Liam Sostre of Jamestown. In addition to her parents, Kathryn is preceded in death by her husband, David W. Scofield whom she married on March 5, 1949 at Bemus Point United Methodist Church, Bemus Point, NY and who died on January 7, 2006 and a son: Michael D. Scofield (August 5, 1994). Rev. Donald Ray, retired chaplain of UPMC Chautauqua WCA Hospital, will officiate. Burial will be in Bemus Point Cemetery, Bemus Point, NY.
