Obituary for Bonita J. Johnson Bonita Jean Johnson, 60, of E. 4th Street, Jamestown, N.Y., passed away on Sunday, July 16, 2017 at Heritage Park Rehab and Skilled Nursing, Jamestown, N.Y. She was born February 23, 1957 in Jamestown, N.Y., the daughter of the late Phillip A. and Vivian Rawlings Johnson Taylor. A graduate of Southwestern High School, she was employed for twenty-five years with Chautauqua- Cattaraugus Library System as a Typist Clerk.

In 2011 she was named the YMCA Volunteer of the year. She was an avid reader and had belonged to a Book Club. She especially enjoyed Sci-Fi and the “Dr. Who” series.

She enjoyed going to Sci-Fi movies with her good friend, Martin. In earlier years she liked hiking at Alleghany State Park and the Alleghany National Forest. Bonnie was a very Loving Aunt who enjoyed spending time with her nieces and nephews.

She was always willing to help with babysitting. As they grew up and moved away, she would travel to their new homes for special visits with them. Bonnie also had a great fondness for the many cats and dogs her family had over the years, and most recently her brother’s Beagles.

She is survived by her brother, Arthur (Sherri) Johnson of Watts Flatts, N.Y; four sisters, Elaine (Matt) Adams, Jannette Johnson, Patricia (Jon) Wennberg and Linda (Eric) Olson all from the Jamestown area. Several nieces and nephews and her stepfather, Donald Taylor of Busti. She was preceded in death by her father, Phillip A. Johnson, in 1969 and her mother, Vivian Rawlings Johnson Taylor, in 2002 and a sister, Judith Tsitso.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to James Prendergast Library, 509 Cherry Street, Jamestown, NY 14701 or to the Chautauqua County Humane Society, 2825 Strunk Road, Jamestown, NY 14701. No visitation or services will be held. A private service will be held by her family.
