Obituary for Hannah Genoa “Jo” Samuelson Hannah Genoa “Jo” Samuelson, 83, of Heritage Park, formerly of Bemus Point, was in the arms of her daughter, Karen, when she went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, March 1, 2017. Hannah was born on April 30, 1933 in Ripley, NY to the late Raymond and Alice Eudora Ecker Lawson. She was a graduate of Jamestown High School in 1953.

Hannah was a devote Christian. She was a member of the Bemus Point United Methodist Church where she spent many hours volunteering, and where she beautifully arranged the lilies at Easter and poinsettias at Christmas in the Sanctuary. She volunteered for the Salvation Army Red Kettle Drive for several years.

She was a member of New Beginnings, Ellery Senior Citizens and the Diana Lodge. Hannah was a devoted and loving wife, mother to her five (5) daughters and grandmother to eight (8) grandchildren. Hannah retired from Bemus Point Central School District in 1994.

She had such a “green thumb” which was evident at her Bemus Point home as her numerous gardens were full of colorful flowers. She always was up for a vigorous game of rummy, Skip-Bo, and Sequence. She enjoyed traveling to Sweden, Germany, Hawaii, Colorado, California and Florida.

She is survived by her husband Jack H. Samuelson, whom she would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in August; her five daughters: Deborah (William R. III) Reynolds of Bemus Point, NY; Karen Samuelson of Lakewood, NY; Diane (Lawrence) Verry of Chula Vista, CA; Susann DelBalso (late David DelBalso) of Syracuse, NY; and Sherri (Brad) Tedquist of Penrose, CO. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Sarah, Jenny, William R. IV and Alex Reynolds; Kyler and Chase Heartstedt; Joseph DelBalso and Kate Tedquist. She is also survived by her sister, Irma Kendall, her brothers, Charles and Raymond Lawson; sister-in-law Priscilla Lawson, brother-in-law Lloyd Faulkner, many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

She was predeceased by her parents; her beloved sister, Marlene Faulkner; brother’s Donny and Frederick Lawson; her son-in-law David DelBalso, brother-in-law Jack Kendall and nephew John Kendall. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorials can be made to Bemus Point United Methodist Church.
