Obituary of Peter Elofson Peter C. Elofson, 65, of Frewsburg, NY, passed away peacefully at 5:15 AM Thursday, July 26th 2018 in Hospice of Buffalo Cheektowaga NY, after a courageous 2 year battle with mantle cell lymphoma. Peter was a lifelong area resident, born August 12, 1952 to the late Carl L. “Jim” Elofson and Nancy Meyer Elofson. Peter was a 1970 graduate of Jamestown High School and attended Jamestown Community College.

Peter was a loyal and dedicated employee, working for Ogden Newspapers for 46 years. Prior to his retirement in 2015, Peter was the Information Technology Manager for the Post Journal, Warren Times Observer and the Dunkirk Observer. Peter was a member of The Celoron Moose, The Jamestown Eagles Club, The Lakewood Rod and Gun Club, WNY Oldsmobile Club, Oldsmobile Club of America, Classic Thunderbird Club International, as well a former President of the Lakewood Rotary Club and a Paul Harris Fellow.

Peter was a car enthusiast with vast knowledge of vehicles from all eras, he was proud of his collection of classic cars that he had restored, maintained and showed locally and in places as far away as Minnesota, Kentucky, Indiana, New Jersey and Illinois in the Oldsmobile National Show where he served as one of the judges. One of Peter’s proudest accomplishments with his cars was having his 72 Cutlass pictured in the Oldsmobile of America Magazine. Peter’s cars were more than just a hobby they were his passion and he had formed many friendships and met many people over the years through his cars sharing his knowledge, ideas and sometimes just a story which will be missed by many.

Peter is survived by his wife, Peggy J. Skoglund Elofson, whom he married August 25, 1973, a daughter Marsha L. Elofson of Jamestown, Brother-In-Law and Sister-In-Law, Leonard and Susan Skoglund and their family as well as his two best friends Tom Danielson and Ang Terrano and his two devoted canine companions Shelby and Little Mac. He was preceded in death by his father who died December 7, 1991 and his mother who died June 20, 2010, maternal grandparents Ben and Agnes Meyer, paternal grandparents Carl L. and Nellie Elofson. The family will receive friends from 4:00-7:00 pm on Tuesday July 31, 2018, at The Lind Funeral Home, 805 W. Third Street Jamestown NY.

A time of remembrance and a celebration of Peter’s life will be held at 6:00 pm Wednesday, August 1, 2018 at Fresco Pizza and Wings 2 E. 2nd St Jamestown. Burial will private. Donations in memory of Peter can be made to Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, Western and Central New York Chapter, 4043 Maple Rd.
