Mrs. Jane Fortenberry Lytle, age 77, of Marion, passed away Friday, December 14, 2018 at her home following a courageous five year battle with cancer. Jane was a daughter of the late Amos C. Fortenberry and Eloise Patrick Fortenberry and was born in Cleveland County on July 11, 1941. She was retired as the Lunchroom Manager at West Marion Elementary School.

As a 36 year member of West Marion United Methodist Church, Jane devoted herself to serving her Lord there as a devoted Sunday School Teacher, the Membership Secretary, and as a former President of the Methodist Women’s Group. Her friends, family and church family will remember her fondly for her loving and generous nature. A daughter, Eloise Caroline Carpenter, preceded her in death.

Jane leaves behind her beloved husband of 58 years, Dennis Lytle; two daughters, Martha Kim Lytle Butler and husband Barry, and Sonya Ann Lytle, all of Marion; a brother, Steve Fortenberry of Texas; a sister, Ann Fortenberry of Oak Island; six grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. A service of remembrance and celebration of her life will take place Monday, December 17, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Westmoreland Funeral Home in Marion. The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

Burial will follow in McDowell Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to CarePartners Hospice McDowell at 575 Airport Road, Marion, NC 28752.
