Mary Sue Hogan Dillard, age 88, of Nebo, NC passed away Tuesday, December 11, 2018 at Hospice of the Carolina Foothills. Mary was preceded in death by her two brothers, Creed Hogan and Clay Hogan; and three sisters, Lurline Lewis, Anna Beth Seaman and Tressie Boehm. Ms. Dillard was born November 3, 1930 in Rutherford County, NC to the late Charlie Ben Hogan and Ora Watkins Hogan.

She graduated from Glenwood High School in 1950 and was a lifetime member of Macedonia Baptist Church. She worked in textiles and retired as a CNA for J. Iverson Riddle. She was a founding member of Dysartsville Volunteer Fire Department where she served for over 20 years.

Ms. Dillard was involved in various activities including: being a 4H leader for 8 years, a Boy Scout leader for 2 years, serving as a volunteer for the Red Cross for over 20 years, volunteering with the Dysartsville Food Pantry for over 10 years, was a member of the Dysartsville Community Center and she was a member of the Quilters Guild. She loved to do plastic canvas needle point and crocheting. She also enjoyed traveling.

Ms. Dillard will forever be missed by all who knew her. Those left behind to cherish her memories are her daughter, Amelia Fox of Dysartsville, NC; three siblings, Lynn Hogan of Detroit, MI, Grady Hogan (Elwina) of Dysartsville, NC and Winnie Clement of Charlotte, NC; one brother-in-law, Gene Seaman of Gastonia, NC; one sister-in-law, Geneva Hogan of Weaverville, NC; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM on Saturday, December 15, 2018 at Beam Funeral Service.

A Funeral Service to celebrate Ms. Dillard’s life will follow at 3:00 PM at the funeral home with Rev. Steven Painter and Rev. Donald Morrison officiating.

Burial will follow at Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery.
