Mr. J.B. Davis, age 91, of Marion, passed away at the Memorial Campus of Mission Hospitals in Asheville on Tuesday, December 11, 2018. Mr. Davis was born in Marion on July 11, 1927 to the late Clyde Davis and Virginia Carrigan Davis. Enlisting in the U.S. Navy towards the end of World War II, he served for three years and upon his discharge he became a clerk with the U.S. Postal Service and retired following 30 years of faithful service.

A hard working man, J.B. was mowing his own grass into his 90s. A more honest and loyal friend would be hard to find and his caring and loving nature won him many close friendships. He was a devoted member of Glenwood Baptist Church.

A son, Eddie Allan Davis, preceded him in death. Three sisters, an infant, Frankie Styles, and Martha Martin, as well as two brothers, L.D. and Grady Davis, also passed before him. Surviving are his beloved wife of 70 years, Lola Pyatt Davis; a son, Larry William Davis and wife Erin of Clemmons; a daughter-in-law, Nancy Davis; a sister, Mildred Seagle and husband Clarence of Marion; a sister-in-law, Pat Davis; five grandchildren, Amanda Angel, Jeremey Davis, Michael Davis, Martin Davis, and Emily Davis; and nine great-grandchildren, Caden, Gracen, Gannon, and Carson Davis, Ruby and Davis Angel, Will Davis, and Zack and Avery Berz.

A service of remembrance and celebration of his life will take place on Saturday, December 15, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Westmoreland Funeral Home in Marion with Rev. Dennis Love and Rev. Jim Brewer officiating.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial, with military graveside rites, will follow in the Glenwood Cemetery. Flowers are accepted and appreciate, but those wishing to make a memorial please consider Glenwood Baptist Church at PO Box 218, Glenwood, NC 28737.
