Obituary for Janet I. Wilson Janet C. Wilson of Grand Ledge formerly of Ft. Myers and Petoskey passed away September 20, 2018 surrounded by her loving family. Janet will be missed by her family and remembered by the many lives she touched as a friend, mentor and educator.

Janet was born November 21, 1923 in Topeka, Kansas to the late Clarence R. and K. Irene (Flinn) Copp. Janet graduated from Eastern Michigan University (formerly Michigan State Normal College) in 1945 and went on to receive a Master’s Degree from Eastern Michigan University in education. She was employed for many years at the Garden City and Saline Public Schools.

Janet was very active and independent well into her nineties spending summers in Petoskey and wintering in Ft. Myers. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Red Hat Society, and was an avid Bridge player.

Janet was artistic, creative and was well known as an accomplished seamstress. She is survived by her daughters, Connie Cleary and Mary Ann (Randy Hurtekant) Wilson; granddaughters, Jennifer, Elizabeth and Kathryn Cleary and Kristina and Courtney Denniston; great grandchildren, Madyson and Cruz; brother, Robert Copp along with several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband William; siblings, Hazel Hollowell and Harley Copp; son-in-law, Mike Cleary, sisters-in-law, Charlotte and Helen Copp and brother-in-law John Hollowell.

A private family service will be held. Arrangements by the Holihan-Atkin-Barclay Funeral Home, Grand Ledge. Memorial contributions may be given to Inland Water Route Historical Society, 6217 River St, Alanson, MI 49706.
