J.D.’s Obituary J.D. Dunavant, 83, of Dyersburg, TN, passed away on Saturday, February 23, 2019 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital. He was born on May 31, 1935, in Decaturville, TN, to the late Sammie Dunavant and Gertie Lomax Fox. J.D. was a retired supervisor for Colonial Rubber Works.

He loved fishing, camping, boating and water skiing. J.D. served his country in the United States Army. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 26, 2019 in the chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home with Bro.

Jeremy Ballinger officiating. Burial will be in Dyer County Memorial Gardens. The family will receive visitors from 5-8 p.m. Monday, February 25, 2019 at Dyersburg Funeral Home.

Survivors include his wife, Flo Leake Dunavant of Dyersburg; a daughter, Sheron Leath and husband, Roger, of Dyersburg; a son, Danny Dunavant of Dyersburg; a brother, Hershel Dunavant and wife, Gayle, of Rainsville, AL; five grandchildren, Randi Seratt (Preston), Blake Hawkins (Kara), Hannah Permenter (Dustin), Leah Dunavant and Drew Dunavant; and seven great-grandchildren, Lane Seratt, Piper Seratt, Rhett Hawkins, Eden Hawkins, LilyAnn Permenter, Elliana Permenter and Kele Dunagan. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-father, Jim Fox; and a brother, Gerald Dunavant. Pallbearers will be George Leake II, Michael Dunavant, Dana Dunavant, Daryl Dunavant, Greg Dunavant and Tommy Dunavant.

Honorary pallbearers will be Johnny B. Willis, Eugene McClain, Gary Criswell, Nathan Burns, Eugene Smith, Kevin Cranford and Johnny Hammett.
