Jean Marie Stickrod, of Fleming Island, passed away on May 3, 2018. Jean was born January 29, 1933 in Evanston IL to the late John H. Murphy and Jeanne Walker Murphy. She attended Evanston schools through high school, including Lincolnwood Elementary where she met future husband Richard M. Stickrod in the 4thgrade.

She attended the University of Miami where she was a member of Chi Omega sorority. Jean worked many years as an accounting supervisor at a Chicago area insurance firm. During her seventeen years as a Fleming Island resident, Jean was a member of Orange Park United Methodist Church, Chancel Choir, and Inspirations Women’s Ensemble and was active in Eagle Harbor bridge and book clubs.

Jean will be remembered for her joyful spirit, warm smile, beautiful singing voice, and her deep commitment to family and friends. She was a beloved mother figure to many. Jean is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Richard; children, Kimberley Eckhardt (Thomas) and Robert Stickrod; grandchildren, Douglas Eckhardt (Stephanie), Christine Gallentine (Nathan), Gregory Eckhardt (Tessa), Katherine Eckhardt, and Jessica Stickrod; great-grandchildren, Naya Hope and Eden Elizabeth Gallentine and Emily Katherine Eckhardt; and a host of relatives and friends.

A visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and service at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, May 7, 2018 at Aaron and Burney Bivens Funeral Home, 529 Kingsley Avenue, Orange Park, FL 32073, (904) 264-1233. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Susan G. Koman Foundation.
