Jeanie L. Brooks, 70 of Granite City, Illinois passed away on Tuesday, January 29, 2019 at Gateway Regional Medical Center in Granite City. Jeanie was born on August 20, 1948 in Roseburg, Oregon; the daughter of the late Charles E. and Betty (Spangler) Bates. Jeanie was a homemaker and mom who attended Second Baptist Church in Granite City.

Her greatest joy was her family and she will be remembered for all the special times they shared together. Jeanie is survived by and will be missed by her children; Wilford Brooks, Barry Brooks, David Brooks, Tammy Brooks, Trish Dotson; special friend, Alan Shoptaw; 13 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Jeanie was preceded in death by her husband; Wilbur Brooks; brother, Omar Bates; sister, Mary Jane Combs.

In celebration of Jeanie’s life, friends may call on Saturday, February 9, 2019 from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the service at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Clint Wisdom officiating at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City.
