Jeanne Meredith Busse February 16, 1927 – January 22, 2019 Share this obituary Sign Guestbook| View Guest Book Entries Jeanne Meredith Busse of Charlottesville, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 22, 2019 at the University of Virginia Medical Center. Born on February 16, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Hal James Meredith and Nola Kathryn Thurman Meredith of Waynesboro. Also predeceasing her is her beloved husband, Dr. Bernard Busse, her brothers- Hal Meredith, Brigadier General Thomas Meredith, John Berkeley Meredith, Edward Andy Meredith, Clayton Thurman Meredith, her nephew’s wife, Maria Meredith, and family friend, Dr. Charles Hess.

Mrs. Busse earned an AB Degree from Elon University and a Master’s Degree in Education from UVA. She was a lifelong music educator in the NC and VA school systems. The opportunity to become a member of The Washington Cathedral Choir was a treasured achievement.

As a pediatric oncology volunteer at UVA Medical Center, she loved helping the children she met. She was a choir member and Deacon at First Presbyterian Church in Charlottesville. Survivors include her stepson, Paul Busse and wife Kayron of Glen Allen, VA, her stepdaughter Laura Gray and her husband Barry, her loving nieces and nephews and their spouses: Marjorie Poyck of Tucson, Arizona; Bo and Kathy Meredith of Myrtle Beach, SC, Jack and Betty Meredith of Virginia Beach, Kathryn and Dale Herring of Burlington, NC, Aimee and Bob Rombach of San Diego, CA, Andy Meredith of Wendell, NC, Earl and Wendy Meredith of Greensboro, NC, a stepgrandson Jon Gray,as well as numerous other family members.

The viewing will be Sunday, January 27, at Hill and Wood Funeral Home in Charlottesville from 3-5 PM. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, January 28, 2019 at First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Dr. David Forney officiating with a reception to follow.

The interment will be held that morning, at Augusta Memorial Park in Waynesboro, Virginia at 10:00 AM. Special thanks to her neighbors including Judy and Grant Brownrigg, dear friends Edna and Ray Bishop, and the staff at UVA Medical Center. Memorial contributions in her memory to your favorite charity may be made or flowers are welcome.
