Jeff “Bodean” Strait, age 52 years, was welcomed into the loving arms of our Heavenly Father on Friday, June 15th while surrounded by the love of his life and other beloved family members. Jeff was born on May 14th, 1966 to John and Naomi Strait in Viroqua, WI and graduated from Kickapoo High School in 1984. In 1985, Jeff met Shelley and they married on September 23rd, 1991.

After more than 30 years together, Jeff and Shelley were truly inseparable. Jeff enjoyed doing anything and everything outdoors, usually with his brother John or his best friend Trav. He especially loved gardening, deer hunting, ice fishing, ginseng and mushroom hunting, hiking, and searching for arrowheads.

The rare times when Jeff wasn’t outside, he was cooking and canning, antiquing, making and selling his very own ice fishing jigs (Ocooch Mountain Lures), taking pleasure in spending time with Shelley and their three Boston Terriers, or creating nicknames for family, friends, and pets. Jeff will be sadly missed by his loving wife Shelly, the “houndpack” of Boston Terriers (Bobbi, Lilly, and Daisy), brother and lifetime fishing partner John (Ursula) Strait, brother Jake (Jenny) Strait, sister Carla Applebee, step-son Damion Linhart, father-in-law John Garrity, sister-in-law’s Shannon Garrity, Lisa Clements, and Stacy Hetra, best friend Trav Campbell, and many cousins, nieces, nephews, friends, and pets. Jeff was welcomed in Heaven by his parents John and Naomi Strait, his mother-in-law Ramona Downing, beloved dogs Zebbie and Max, and many uncles, aunts, friends, and pets.

As Jeff would always say, “Tootle Loo”. Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 22nd at 7 p.m. at the Thorson Funeral Home in Viroqua. Burial will take place on Saturday June 23rd at 10 a.m. in the Readstown Cemetery.
