Obituary for Jerome “Jerry” A. Pevonka Jerome “Jerry” A. Pevonka, 75, of Fond du Lac, was called home to heaven on Tuesday, April 24th 2018. He was born February 7, 1943 to Mathew and Margaret (Haskett) Pevonka. On September 1st, 1973 he was united in marriage to Diane L. Zurbuchen at Pella Lutheran Church in Waupun.

Jerry attended St. Patrick’s School and graduated from L.P. Goodrich High School in 1962. He worked in construction for many years and then served as a groundskeeper at Goodrich High School for nearly 20 years until his retirement in 1998. He was proud to maintain Fruth Field at his alma mater.

He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying fishing and hunting with family and friends. Jerry played for and coached the Fondy Bears hockey team. He was also one of the founders of Blue Line Hockey Club and coached youth hockey for many years.

Jerry was a devoted volunteer at Faith Lutheran Church, where he was an active member for 35 years. Jerry’s faith in Jesus and his family were most important to him. He was a devoted husband, father, and Papa.

He overcame many health challenges over the years without complaint. Jerry’s greatest joy in life was to be of service to others, lending a hand to anyone who needed it and always with a smile on his face. He made friends wherever he went and genuinely loved people.

Jerry had a unique way of making everyone feel special. Survivors include his beloved wife, Diane; his dear children Michelle (Morgan) Pevonka-Thompson, Bridget (Dale) Pevonka, Jean Pevonka, Andy Pevonka (special friend Holly Schaumberg), and Bethany (Barry) Rusch; his grandchildren Douglas (Kim) Huelsman, Logan Madson, Ava & Miles Rusch; and his great-grandchild Reiloni Huelsman. He is further survived by his parents-in-law, Fred & Betty Zurbuchen; brother-in-law Scott (Luann) Zurbuchen; sister-in-law Merri Smith; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Kenneth and Delroy (Lavina) Pevonka, brother-in-law David Smith, nieces Christine Bierman and Erica Zurbuchen, many cousins, former wife Sue Wuest, and dear friends Jerry Thompson and Dave Schultz. Visitation: From 10am on Monday, April 30, 2018 at Faith Ev. Lutheran Church, until the time of service at church.

Services: A Christian funeral will be held at 1pm on Monday, April 30th at Faith Lutheran Church. Rev. David Haugly will officiate and burial will follow at St. Charles Cemetery.
