Obituary for Jerry Don Poovey Jerry Don Poovey, age 81, of Garland, TX, passed away July 14, 2018. He was born March 19, 1937, in Rowlett, TX, to David and Valena (Garrison) Poovey. Jerry served his country in the United States Army and was a lifetime member, Deacon and Trustee at First Christian Church of Rowlett.

He married Bettie Jane Miller October 24, 1959 in Rowlett TX and they enjoyed 58 years together. After 25 years, he retired from General Dynamics in 2008. Jerry is survived by his loving wife: Bettie Poovey of Garland, TX; children: Cindy Perison of Rowlett, TX, Don Poovey and wife Lisa of Celeste, TX, and Curtis Poovey and wife Cori of Garland, TX; grandchildren: Jeremy Perison and wife Stacy, Leah Perison, Ashley Poovey, Jacob Poovey, Zac Thomas, Kayla Thomas and Lucas Thomas; great grandchildren: Alex Poovey, Jaylyn Perison, Jax Perison, Brice Hardwick, and Reid Perison.

He was preceded in death by his parents; 3 sisters; and five brothers. Funeral services will be held 10:00 am, Wednesday, July 18, 2018, at First Christian Church, 7301 Miller Rd. , Rowlett, TX, 75088 with Pastor Ann Dotson officiating.

Interment will follow at Mills Cemetery in Garland, TX. A Gathering for family and friends will be held Tuesday, July 17, 2018 from 6:00 to 8:00pm at Rest Haven Funeral Home – Rowlett Location. Cemetery Details Mills Cemetery 501 Mills Road Garland, TX, 75040 , Previous Events Gathering , JUL 17.
