Jerry Douglas Ashford age 67 of Smithville passed away Saturday May 5, 2018 at St. Thomas West in Nashville. He was born August 4, 1950 to the late John and Maggie Johnson Ashford. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by 3 brothers, James Ashford, Owen Ashford, and Wayne Ashford.

Mr. Ashford worked at Genesco, Texas Boot and was a farmer and affiliated with the Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Dianne Ashford of Smithville; 2 children, Jeff (Melodie) Ashford of McMinnville, and Debbie (Mark) Delaney of Alabama; 4 grandchildren, Dalton Ashford, Bailey Ashford, Addison Delaney, and Patience Delaney; 2 sisters, Mildred Murphy of Smithville and Freda (Burnell) Maxwell of Grundy County. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. Jerry Ashford will be held 2:PM Monday May 7, 2018 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro. Lenoard Herman and Jonathan Puckett officiating and burial will follow in DeKalb Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be Sunday 1:PM until 8:PM and on Monday 10:AM until the time of the service at 2:PM.

DeKalb Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
