Obituary for Jerry Lee Sparks Jerry Lee Sparks, 70, of Johnson City, passed away on Thursday, April 19, 2018 at his home surrounded by loved ones. A native of Washington County, he is the son of the late Troy and Bethel (Ingle) Sparks. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his step-father, George Clinton (Sheriff), and brothers, Carroll, Billy, and Johnny Sparks.
Jerry attended Midway Baptist Church. He was friendly, easy going, and a giving person. He enjoyed listening to gospel bluegrass, and going to the lake to camp and fish.
Those left to cherish Jerry’s memory include: wife of 48 years, Brenda Sparks; brothers, Don Sparks, and Arthur J. Coffey; sister, Betty Ruth Garland; and sister-in-law, Lorraine Sparks. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Debbie Harold, Lori Brumit, and the staff and nurses of Mountain States Hospice. The family will gather to receive friends on Sunday, April 22, 2018 at Midway Baptist Church, Johnson City beginning at 4:00 PM until a celebration of Jerry’s life beginning at 6:00 PM with Pastor William Taylor and Pastor Kenneth Kyker officiating.
A committal and interment will be held on Monday, April 23, 2018 at Pleasant View Brethren Cemetery, Jonesborough at 11:00 AM. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at Midway Baptist Church to ride to the cemetery by 10:50 AM. Pallbearers are Sam Drain, Jamie Brooks, Johnny Garland, J.D. Garland, Sid Dunford, and Joey Harold.
Honorary Pallbearers are Roy Bell, A.J. Coffey, and Don Sparks. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Midway Baptist Church, 3414 W. Walnut Street, Johnson City, TN 37604, (423) 926-1650. Memories and condolences may be shared at www.
