Obituary for Judith Luke Judith Kathryn Luke, 78, passed away on April 11, 2018, in Johnson City, Tennessee, following complications from surgery. Judy was adored by her family members and many friends and will be greatly missed. Judy was born in Union, MS on August 8, 1939 to the late James S. and Kathryn M. Luke.

She graduated from Union High School and the University of Southern Mississippi. At Southern, Judy was a member of the Kappa Delta sorority and was a proud member of the famous Dixie Darlings, known for performing at many nationally televised football games and parades. Prior to moving to Johnson City, Judy lived in Kingsport, TN, where she was an active member of the Junior League, the Kingsport Garden Club, The Commodore Club, and the Preservation of Tennessee Antiquities, among other organizations.

Additionally, Judy volunteered her time with several organizations, including the Kingsport Boys Club and the Allandale Mansion. In Johnson City, Judy was actively involved in the early days of Grace Fellowship Church as well as active in the startup of nearby Doe River Gorge summer camp. Judy was fluent in Spanish and spent several of her winters in Costa Rico, where she loved the culture and enjoyed frequenting other areas of the region.

Judy is survived by one son, James Chase Boles, of Johnson City; her daughter-in-law Carol Griffith Boles; three grandchildren, Olivia, Jared and Seth Boles of Johnson City; one brother, Jim Luke, of Meridian, MS; two sisters, Lizbeth Andrews of Atlanta, GA and Susan Luke of Milton, GA; and two nephews and a niece, Dal Luke of Boerne, TX, Chip Luke of Union, MS, and Leslie Luke Baker of Roswell, GA. The family would like to thank the staff of Broadmore Senior Living for Judy’s care. A Celebration of Life in honor of Judy will be announced at a later date.
