Mr. Jim Harris, age 81 of Franklin, KY, passed away Monday, May 20, 2019 at 11:11 PM at his residence. Arrangements are under the direction of Gilbert Funeral Home where services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, May 23, 2019 with burial to follow in the McKendree Chapel Cemetery in Simpson County, KY. Jim was born May 5, 1938 to the late Samuel and Dora Harris.

He is also preceded in death by a daughter, Kelly Harris. Jim is survived by his wife, Shirley Brown Harris of Franklin, KY, a daughter, Lori Harris of Texas, two step-sons, Timmy Dorris (Robin) of Franklin, KY, and Scott Montague (Kelli) of Franklin, KY, five grandchildren, Wesley Farmer, Ethan Farmer, Emily Bowling, Hunter Bowling, and Makenzie Montague, three great-grandchildren, Harley Farmer, Micah Mooney, Lee Chastain and several nieces and nephews. Jim served honorably for the United States Army and got to meet Elvis Presley as they shipped out together for overseas military duty.

He was an expeditor for the Peterbilt Company for 32 years. He was also a huge sports fan especially for the Vanderbilt Commodores. He enjoyed old classic cars, and front porch sitting with his family, especially his sweet grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM Wednesday, May 22, 2019 and from 6:00 AM until service time Thursday at Gilbert Funeral Home. Online condolences may be made at www. gilbertfhonline.com.
