Ned D. Conder, 87, of Evansville, passed away on May 16th at the Linda E. White Hospice House. He was born on January 8, 1932 in Evansville to Elmer and Bea (Turpen) Conder. Ned lived an incredible life full of family, friends, music and joy!

Ned had a gift for encouraging children. During high school and college, he directed The Show Wagon, a musical theater program for youth. Later he earned an Undergraduate in Education at University of Evansville and a Master’s in Administration from Indiana University.

He began his career in education teaching science at Stanley Hall. He also served as Assistant Principal at Reitz High School and concluded his career in administration with EVSC serving in student services. He was awarded Counselor of the Year for the State of Indiana.

Ned helped develop a science education program for television and a program designed to teach students to be a SUCCESS. His “Nooby Dooby” character brought an important message to thousands of children. Ned was a talented pianist and vocalist.

He participated in Civic Theater and also loved sharing his musical talents with friends and family at Central United Methodist Church where he was a lifelong member and active in the 4-C’ers Sunday School Class. Ned served his country in the United States Army from 1954 to 1956 during the Korean War. Ned is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Marilyn Marlin Conder; sister, Kay Conder; children, Leah Taylor, Kent Conder and Melissa (Ron) Counts; grandchildren, Caitlin, Jillian, Talon, Makenna and Kieran; nephews, Shawn Koch and Matthew Marlin; niece, Nikki Hughes; and great nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Bea Conder; twin brother, Ted; sister, Gay Koch; and brother-in-law, Don Koch. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, May 20, 2019 at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel – A Family Tradition Funeral Home, 5330 Washington Avenue with Vanderburgh County Retired Veterans Memorial Club rendering full military rites and Reverend Dewey Miller officiating. Burial will be in Union Ridge Cemetery near Herald, IL.

Friends may visit from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Sunday, May 19, 2019 and from 9:00 a.m. until time of service, Monday, May 20, 2019 at BOONE FUNERAL HOME EAST CHAPEL. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made to: Central United Methodist Church, New Piano Fund at 300 Mary St, Evansville, IN 47710.
