Helen H. (Hawley) Bonebrake Straeffer, 89, of Evansville, passed away Friday, May 17, 2019 at her home at Holiday Village. Helen was born February 20, 1930 in Sidell, IL to the late William and Eula (Morris) Hawley. She worked as an elementary school teacher for almost 40 years in the Metropolitan School District of Warren County and was actively involved in the National Education Association.

She was a longtime member of Trinity Presbyterian Church in West Lebanon, IN and a current member of Eastminster Presbyterian in Evansville. Helen was an avid reader and served on the Library Board in West Lebanon. Surviving Helen are her daughter, Rachel Ann (Gary Max) Monarch of Evansville; two grandchildren, Amanda (Nick) Ritzert and Amy Monarch; one great grandchild, Caroline Woods; four stepchildren, Scott (Fran) Straeffer, Bill (PJ) Straeffer, Dave (Sue) Straeffer and Stacy (Skip) Whitehead; many step grandchildren and step great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her first husband, Carl Bonebrake, Jr.; by her second husband, Charles Straeffer and by a brother, William Hawley. Funeral services for Helen will be held at 6:00 PM on Monday, May 20, 2019 at Pierre Funeral Home, Dr. Dennis Davenport officiating. Burial will be held on Tuesday, May 21, 2019 at 1:00 PM E.S.T. at the West Lebanon Cemetery in West Lebanon, IN.

Friends may visit with the family from 2:00 PM until service time on Monday at Pierre Funeral Home, 2601 W. Franklin Street. Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Presbyterian Church, 301 S. Clinton Street, West Lebanon, IN 47991. Condolences may be made online at www.
