Jimmie Joanne Thompson, 87, of Terre Haute passed away Friday June 8, 2018 at 1:00 am in Cobblestone Crossing Health Campus. She was the first Police Matron for the City of Terre Haute. Jimmie was born September 9, 1930 in Terre Haute to Kenneth Chumley and Harmony (Carpenter) Chumley.

She is survived by her daughters, Lynda Tufts (David) of St. Louis, Cyndy Johnson (Dennis) of Terre Haute, and Cathy Thompson of Indianapolis; grandchildren, Matt Johnson (Nathalie), Sam Johnson (Heather), James Jaspers (Kaytie), and Crystal Thompson (Anthoney) and 13 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Detective Clarence D. Thompson, who died in the line of duty March 8, 1964. Jimmie was a 1973 graduate of the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy and she loved spending time with her family.

Cremation has been chosen with a Celebration of Life at a later date. DeBaun Springhill Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Online condolences may be left at www.
