Joan Carol Orem, age 64, of Westminster, Maryland, died peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, June 17, 2018 at home. Born March 29, 1954 in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of Edna M. (Baker) Stephan of Westminster and the late George A. Stephan. She was the loving and devoted wife of 39 years to Louis E. Orem.

Joan was a fixture on the wait staff at Baugher’s Restaurant in Westminster, and had just completed her 50th work anniversary. She will be dearly missed by her coworkers and customers. She was a lifetime member of Krider’s U.C.C. and an avid Ravens and NASCAR fan.

She also enjoyed traveling, swimming, and her pet animals. Surviving in addition to her mother and husband are sons, Richard Crunkilton and wife Kerri of Westminster and Louis T. Orem of Westminster; granddaughter, Brandi Shelton; sisters, Judy Jones of Westminster and Joyce Arthur of Hanover, PA; sister-in-law and family, Helen Forquer of Westminster; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by father-in-law and mother-in-law, Lou and Dorothy Orem; and by sister-in-law, Betty Martin.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 21, 2018 at the MYERS-DURBORAW FUNERAL HOME, 91 Willis St., Westminster with the Rev. Frank Warner officiating. Burial will follow in Crest Lawn Memorial Gardens in Marriottsville, MD.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 19th from 6-8 p.m. and on Wednesday, June 20th from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made in her name to the William E. Kahlert Regional Cancer Center, 291 Stoner Ave. , Westminster, MD 21157; where Joan touched the hearts of many of the Doctors, Nurses, and Staff.
